Modifications & Liability

1. Client-Initiated Modifications

Should you wish to request any changes to your finalized safari itinerary, such requests must be made in writing by the lead booking contact. Mathew Expeditions will make every reasonable effort to accommodate alterations, subject to availability. Please note that administrative modifications are subject to a fee of $150 per amendment, plus any additional charges, rate increases, or non-refundable fees imposed directly by domestic aviation providers, lodges, or national park reserves.

2. Operator-Initiated Modifications

Given the dynamic and remote wilderness settings in which we operate, Mathew Expeditions reserves the right to alter routes, accommodations, and program schedules at any time before or during travel. These alterations are occasionally necessary to guarantee client safety, respond to unexpected wildlife patterns, or address impassable road conditions. In the rare event of a major change prior to departure, clients will be presented with comparable alternative provisions or appropriate trip credits.

3. Limitations of Liability

Mathew Expeditions acts as an intermediary coordinating with third-party service providers, including regional airlines, luxury camps, and specialist wilderness guides. We assume no direct liability for personal injury, property loss, delays, or additional expenses caused by these independent contractors. Furthermore, we are not liable for non-performance or deviations resulting from Force Majeure events, including severe weather, civil unrest, natural disasters, or changes to regional conservation laws. All travelers are strictly required to purchase comprehensive travel insurance covering medical, evacuation, and cancellation risks.

By confirming booking payment, clients declare their complete acceptance of these structural terms. For modification processing, please contact info@mathewexpeditions.com.

TERMS & CONDITIONS • SECTION 04

Traveler Responsibilities & Risks

Embarking on a safari is an incredible journey of discovery. To ensure your safety, comfort, and compliance with local regulations, we require all guests to fulfill key responsibilities regarding documentation, insurance, and personal preparedness.

1. Comprehensive Travel Insurance

It is a strict condition of booking that every traveler holds fully comprehensive travel insurance prior to departure. Your policy must explicitly cover emergency medical treatment, 24/7 air evacuation, trip cancellation or interruption, luggage loss, and adventure activities. Please provide your insurer’s details and policy number to our team before arrival.

2. Medical Disclosures & Health Requirements

As safaris often explore remote wilderness areas, immediate access to advanced medical facilities may not be possible. Travelers must disclose any pre-existing physical or mental medical conditions, severe food allergies, or mobility considerations during booking. You are solely responsible for acquiring recommended travel vaccinations (e.g., Yellow Fever) and malaria prophylaxis.

3. Passport Validity & Travel Documents

Your passport must be valid for at least six (6) months beyond your planned date of departure from the destination country, with a minimum of three consecutive blank pages. Obtaining entry visas, transit permits, health certifications, and complying with all local immigration rules is your sole responsibility.

⚠️ Important: Acknowledgment of Safari Risks

Traveling into wild ecosystems brings you close to free-roaming wildlife, rough terrain, and unpredictable environmental conditions. By booking, you acknowledge these inherent risks. All guests must strictly adhere to the safety protocols, guide instructions, and camp regulations provided during orientation. Failure to do so can jeopardize personal and group safety.
Should you have any questions or require clarification on these policies, please reach out to our guest relations team.
