Day 1 Arrival in Arusha

Welcome to Tanzania! Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you’ll be greeted by your professional safari guide and transferred to the luxurious Gran Meliá Arusha. This five-star urban oasis sits against the stunning backdrop of Mount Meru and lush coffee plantations. Settle into your elegant suite and relax after your journey. In the evening, meet your guide for a comprehensive safari briefing over dinner at the hotel’s gourmet restaurant, discussing your interests and preferences for the days ahead.

Day 3 Lake Manyara National Park

After breakfast, depart for Tarangire National Park, famous for its massive elephant herds and ancient baobab trees. The drive takes you through scenic Maasai country with views of local villages and livestock. Enter the park and begin your first game drive through the diverse landscapes. Tarangire is a birdwatcher’s paradise with over 550 species, and the large elephant herds are among the most impressive in Africa. Your guide will take you to prime viewing areas along the Tarangire River, where animals gather to drink. Arrive at the exclusive Tarangire Treetops Lodge, where your elevated treehouse suite offers panoramic views of the surrounding wilderness.

Day 3 Full Day in Serengeti

Depart after breakfast for Lake Manyara National Park, a compact gem nestled between the Rift Valley escarpment and the alkaline lake. The park is famous for its tree-climbing lions, large elephant herds, and vast flocks of flamingos. Stop at the Maasai village of Mto wa Mbu for a cultural interaction and lunch with a local family. Continue into the park for an afternoon game drive through groundwater forests, open grasslands, and along the lakeshore. Look for the famous tree-climbing lions resting in acacia branches and hippos in the lake. Arrive at the elegant Elewana The Manor at Ngorongoro, a country-style retreat with beautifully landscaped gardens.

Day 4 Serengeti National Park

Today you drive to the world-renowned Serengeti National Park, passing through the stunning Ngorongoro Conservation Area with breathtaking views of the highlands. Stop at a scenic viewpoint for photographs before descending to the vast Serengeti plains. The Serengeti’s endless grasslands stretching to the horizon are one of Africa’s most iconic landscapes. Begin your first game drive in the central Seronera area, famous for its big cat populations. Search for lions lounging on kopjes, leopards in sausage trees, and cheetahs on the open plains. Arrive at the legendary Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti, where your luxury suite offers stunning views of a wildlife-rich watering hole.

Day 5 Serengeti Balloon Safari & Full Day

The highlight of your safari begins before dawn as you transfer to the balloon launch site. Watch the colorful balloon inflate against the pre-dawn sky before lifting off silently over the Serengeti plains. As the sun rises, float above the wildlife below – herds of wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle casting long shadows on the golden grasslands, elephants moving in family groups, and predators on the hunt. Land in the bush where a champagne breakfast awaits you under an acacia tree. After breakfast, continue with a full-day game drive across the Serengeti. Search for the Big Five and witness the incredible predator-prey interactions that make this ecosystem famous. Return to the Four Seasons Lodge as the sun sets.

Day 6 Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater

After an early morning game drive in the Serengeti, depart for the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Stop at the Olduvai Gorge, where the Leakeys discovered some of the oldest human fossils, and visit the small museum. Continue to the crater rim, where you’ll check into the legendary Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge, built into the crater rim with unmatched views. In the afternoon, descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera. The crater floor is home to over 25,000 animals including the rare black rhino, large lion prides, elephants, and flocks of flamingos on the soda lake.

Day 7 Departure

Rise early for a final descent into the Ngorongoro Crater. The morning light offers excellent photography opportunities as animals are active in the cool air. Spend the morning searching for any species you may have missed, including the elusive black rhino. Enjoy a picnic lunch at the Hippo Pool picnic site before ascending the crater rim. Begin the scenic drive back to Arusha, arriving in time for last-minute shopping or a visit to the Cultural Heritage Centre. Transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your departure flight, taking with you unforgettable memories of your luxury Tanzanian safari.
